What Is the SA EV Registration Fee Exemption?
As part of South Australia’s push to accelerate zero-emission vehicle adoption, eligible new battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles first registered between 28 October 2021 and 30 June 2025 are exempt from registration fees for three years.

Eligibility criteria:
The vehicle must be new (including demo models, but not used cars).
Priced under $68,750 including GST.
Registered for the first time in South Australia.
You don’t need to apply for the exemption, it’s automatically applied when you register an eligible vehicle.
